GCA #100 - Christmas in August & Blog Candy!!!!

Hello all!!!  Here we are at the 100th Getting Creative with Ann challenge!  What a fun time I've had so far, and I love all the new people I've met through my challenges and friendships that have been made!  Here's to another 100 challenges!

Now, I know, that usually it's Christmas in July, but July was a busy month for me and so we are celebrating it in August!  Don't worry, we'll still celebrate it in December too!  But, when you stop and think about it Christmas isn't that far away, 137 days to be exact!!  I always think I will have plenty of time to get my Christmas cards done and any Christmas projects I want to make, and the next thing you know - it's here!!  So, I try to work on Christmas cards and projects all year to keep ahead of the game!  And this way I get to make each Christmas card different and I don't get bored with the same design.

Anywho, onto the card!!  This card uses the new Level 2 hostess set coming out in the Holiday mini - available September 1st.  On the last day of convention Shelli gifted us with an incredible gift:  Peaceful Season hostess set, package of Deck the Halls dsp, the new Champagne Glass Glitter and a Cherry Cobbler ink pad!!!!!  Can you can WOW!!!  I was blown away with this generosity.  Now, I have to be honest, when I saw this hostess set it did not immediately appeal to me, and most likely I would not have worked to earn it.  I have plenty of Christmas sets and I can market the set for purchase easier to my customers, than hostess sets.  But, as with alot of SU! products, once you start working with them you change your mind!  At least I did!!  It really is a nice set and will make some fabulous Christmas cards for this year.

The card I am showing today is the second one I've made and was actually done with scraps left from the first one.  I'll show all three that I've made over this week.  The colors are Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla and Deck the Halls dsp.  My sentiment is stamped in Gold encore and heat embossed in gold.  I first stamped the Sanded background onto the Very Vanilla layer in Crumb Cake.

As I was embellishing this the light bulb went off as to how to use the "earth" ornament!!  Sometimes I wonder about myself!  Since I used the Peace on Earth sentiment, I "hung" the ornament from the Victoria lace trim (which is sooo yummy!!) to make it look like it was hanging.  I colored it with my Al. Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler markers.  The new stick on pearls SU! have finish off the card!

And now to the blog candy!!!  As you can see it is filled with fun stampin goodies for all kinds of projects!    Every time you link to your Christmas card, you will be entered into the drawing.  Yes, you can enter as many times as you like!  Good Luck and I can't wait to see all the fabulous Christmas cards/projects!!

Upload your creation to either your blog or to an online gallery and post a link to your creation to this blog entry by August 14, 2010 at 12 midnight. I will choose the winner the next day. GCA #80 - White on White!!

Hello all!!! Things, for the most part, have calmed down in my house for now and I am back to stamping!!

I see that I have a few new followers to my blog since I've been MIA this past week, and I welcome you!!

This week we are focusing on the color of white. Now, I don't know about you, but I have a very hard time creating white on white cards. But, last weekend was the VSN weekend on SCS and one of the challenges was to create a card mostly of white. You could add a touch of color, but not too much!

My sample for you this week is that card I created for VSN. I'm actually very happy with how it turned out.

My card base is, of course white, and is from Gina K Designs. This is her pure luxury heavy weight card stock. Great for making a white card base. I love my SU! colors and card stock, but I really wish we would get a heavier weight white!

The background panels were run through my Big Shot using the Petals a Plenty and Perfect Polka dots embossing folders. Both of these eb folders are available now!! Once they were put together, I used my distressor tool around the edges. This helps to break up the different layers of white.

The main image panel was punched with the new Scallop Trim border and corner punches now available. The border punch is free with a $50 order during SAB, which ends this month!!!

Once this panel was punched, I stamped my bird, from a A Spring Song, in black staz on. This is a new set for me that earned during SAB!!! I then watercolored the bird using my aqua painter and ink from the lids of Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, Creamy Caramel, So Saffron, Apricot Appeal and Sahara Sand. Watercoloring is not one of my strong areas, but I like how this turned out.

I wrapped the white satin organdy around the end, secured it with a crystal rhinestone brad and added the leaves from my Martha Stewart punch. You can't tell in the photo but some of the leaves were punched with leftover embossed white and from the Brides dsp.

This whole panel is up on thick dimensionals. And, for me, this is Clean and Simple!!

So, the challenge for this week is to create a card using 95% white card stock, embellishments, ribbon or whatever you use. You can add a touch of color using ink, card stock or whatever you want, if you desire. The main point is to embrace the white and keep color to a very low minimum!!

Now, I do recall that I stated earlier this week I would also have some blog candy up for grabs with this challenge!! And, I do!

You have the chance of winning: (picture coming soon. need batteries for my camera)

* Patterns Pack 3:
* Night of Navy, Really Rust, Sahara Sand, Mellow Moss & Ruby Red
* Ribbon set from SAB 2009:
* Certainly Celery poly twill and So Saffron gg
* Bearing Gifts individual stamp from the Holiday 2009 mini

And, I may throw in some surprises when the package gets mailed!!

Upload your creation to either your blog or to an online gallery and post a link to your creation to this blog entry by March 13, 2010 at 12 midnight. I will choose the winner the next day. If you upload your card to SCS, PaperCraft Planet, Stampin' Addicts or Stamp TV, please put GCA80 in your keywords. That way everyone can see all of the wonderful creations at once!

Even if you can't make the drawing deadline, PLEASE feel free to participate in the challenges and upload your creations at any time. I would love to see it! And yes, my challenge is open to everyone who visits, even if you live outside the US!

GCA #75 - A Colorful Sketch & Blog Candy!!

Hello all!! Are you busy stamping this weekend or just busy with family/life work?? I spent all day yesterday co-hosting a stamp-a-stack and then went to my upline's Snowflake Social!! Talk about a long day and being tired!!

As I thought about what to do for the challenge this week, I was torn between doing a color combo and a sketch. So, to fix that problem, I decided to combine the challenges in one!

So, for this week we are doing the sketch as pictured above, but with a slight twist. In the sketch you see one circle has scallops, but that is not required if you chose to use just a regular circle. Your card must also incorporate the color scheme of white and ONE other color!! This can be any color you like, but only ONE other color that white! You may use various shades of the same color on your card too. Think monochromatic.

Now, if you decide to use an image that you watercolor, that can use the colors the image would need to bring it to life. But as for card stock and dsp, you can only use one color with the white. I know you can do it! And I had to make this just slightly challenging as I am also offering blog candy to whoever the winner is this week.

My choice of color was Melon Mambo. I used Shimmery White card stock as my base and built up from there. I tried to take myself out of my comfort zone with using white on white, but I'm not sure I went very far!!! The background panel was embossed with the new Polka Dots eb folder available in the Occasions mini and then highlighted with Melon Mambo ink.

For my scallop circle I used the scallop circles #2 in Shimmery White and then highlighted that with Melon Mambo. I used my Crop-A-Dile to make the holes in each of the scallops.

The stamp set I used is the delightful Charming set, which is still available!! I used the script stamp in Melon Mambo onto a piece of Melon Mambo and then overstamped the decorative stamps in Versamark and clear embossed. You can see a bit of that in the photo.

The flower branch was stamped first in Versamark, then in Melon Mambo and then clear embossed. Same with the sentiment. I used my Beautiful Wings butterfly embosslit for the butterflies, which I cut out of the Razzleberry Lemonade dsp. A piece of Pretty in Pink tafetta finishes the card!

So, in celebration of this being my 75th challenge, I am offering the following for blog candy:

* New and unmounted Botanical Blooms from SAB 2009
* New PTI clear stamp set, Borders and Corners (circles)
* 3 rolls of new ribbon, perfect for Valentine's cards and projects
* packet of pink buttons
* 3 pots of Twinkling H2O's: Siam White, Cherry Sorbet, Pink Anthurium
* tumbled tile decorated coaster
* 4 sheets of textured chipboard

So play along and have your chance to win this awesome blog candy package!!

GCA#8 - Creative Color!!

Hello everyone!!! This week we are playing with color! I was looking through some of the old Color Combos from SCS and landed on CC55. I was looking for some colors I haven't used in awhile and that would definitely be Pink Passion and Pixie Pink!

So the colors are:

Pixie Pink

Pink Passion

Chocolate Chip

Close to Cocoa

Now you have your choice here of using either Chocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa or only one of them. If you do not have the pinks, use what you have that is closest to them! I'm flexible! I just want us to have fun and use these colors to get us stamping!! If you upload to SCS, don't forget the CC55 along with your GCA8!

I'll post my sample later, once my son returns my camera!! I swear he has it more than I do!!

To be entered in the challenge drawing, make a card/project using the posted colors for your motivation , upload it either to your blog, or to an online gallery and post a link to your card to this blog entry as a comment by September 12, 2008 at 12 midnight. I will choose the winner through a random number generator and post the next day.

Even if you can't make the drawing deadline, PLEASE feel free to participate in the challenge and upload your creations at any time. I would love to see it!If you upload your card on SCS, please put GCA8 (NO SPACE IN BETWEEN GCA AND 8) in the keyword section. That way everyone can look at all of the creations at once! If you've been waiting to join in the fun, jump on in and have some fun!! I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

I'll have the 10,000 hits blog candy details up later today!!!

Happy Stamping!!!

Coffee and 10,000 Hits!!!!

Hello everyone!! I just noticed my counter went over the 10,000 hit!!!! Woohoo, that means I'll be offering up some Blog Candy!!! I'll go shopping to see what I find and get the 10,000 hit blog candy up this weekend! Thank you to everyone who has helped me get so many hits! I hope you keep coming back for more!

My card I have for you today is for LSC184: Orange Roasters. I have to admit when I first read the title I thought, "Orange Roosters? I don't have any rooster stamps!" Then I re-read Silvia's post and noticed it said roaster, not rooster! It was kate and I was tired, ok! LOL!

I also combined this with WT182 - Speciality Paper. I've had this stack of DCWV Pocket & Posies sparkle dsp for quite some time! Not that I don't necessarily want to use it, but I forget I have it!! LOL!!I found a color combo using this paper I would have never thought to put together too! I used Tangerine Tango, Apricot Appeal and Sage Shadow. But I have to say the Sage Shadow works on here!

I put CE on the spots on the coffee cup and on the "coffee" part. Not sure how well that shows up in the pic. This wonderful coffee/latte set is NOW available from Treehouse Stamps!! For any coffee lover this set is a must have!I used the coffee bean with this set in all the colors on the white middle strip. Covered up most of it!

Had to cut out the steam again! It's a given with this since steam isn't flat, right?
I also used the sketch I am featuring this week's GCA. One of my first players, and winners, sent me a RAK with this sketch and I just loved it! She found it on Julee Tilman's blog. There is still time to play in my challenge this week and be entered in the raffle. You have until 12 midnight Friday 9/5. Come on and get creative with me!

Happy Stamping!!

Blog Candy & Photos

Hello everyone!

I'm so excited that so many of you are loving the Bag in a Box project and I want you to know how happy that makes me!

I have received a few emails asking me just how do you link a photo to my blog?? It's really not that difficult, yet if you don't have a blog or upload to SCS, you might find it more challenging!! Let me explain the best I can.

If you have a blog, all you need to do is post a comment here and then copy & paste your blog's web address along with your comment. I can then go back and check out your creation.

If you don't have a blog, BUT you DO upload to SCS, then you simply repeat the steps above, but this time you are copying & pasting your online gallery web address. Also, if you have an SCS gallery, please include the keyword BBB1 with your upload and everyone can find them easier!!

Clear as mud right? If you do not have either, then simply email me a pick of your creation to pinkstamper06@yahoo.com and I'll see your project that way. And you'll still be included for the blog candy!!

With all of this said I am going to extend the time for creating your bag and getting me a picture, one way or another! The new deadline is now Monday, July 14th by midnight and I will pick the winner with a random number generator on Tuesday, July 15th by 8pm!

Happy creating everyone!!

My First Tutorial - Box in a Bag!! And Blog Candy!!!

Hello everyone!! I first found this adorable idea on a blog by Paula Goff and decided to try it out. How easy and cute are these??? To put the basic elements of the project together took me no more than 30 minutes. Now trying to decide how to decorate it was another matter entirely!

So you can try these adorable bags for yourself, here is my first tutorial for all of my fellow stampers. Just to be clear, this is not my original idea, not sure who's it is, as I've seen them popping up all over lately.
At the end of this tutorial you will see what the blog candy is all about!!

Supplies you will need:
Designer/Patterned paper – cut to 5 ½” x 11”
Coordinating cardstock – cut to 4 ½” x 4 ½” and 1 ½” x 11”
Slit punch
Paper snips
Scoring blade/Scor-Pal ®
Sticky Strip
Adhesive
Bone Folder
Round Tab punch – 2 needed for handles
stamps/ribbon and other accessories to finish your bag

Step 1

Using a scoring blade or a Scor-Pal ®, score the 4 ½” x 4 ½” piece at 1” and 3 ¼”. Turn cardstock 90’ and score again at same positions. Fold and crease your box using bone folder. This is the base of your project.

Step 2

Using your paper snips, cut up to the 1” mark on 2 of the four sides

Step 3
On the 4 outside squares, apply 2 strips of sticky strip.
You can now begin assembling your box. Fold the squares with the sticky strip into the box.

Step 4

On the side of the designer paper you want facing INSIDE your box, lay a strip of sticky strip on one long side and one short side. TIP: If you are using striped paper, as I am, be careful when you cut it so you have your stripes going in the direction you want them to. Remove the red backing from the long side only. I also ran a strip of my SNAIL ® along the top edge of the sticky strip just for added strength.

We are now going to adhere the box to the designer paper to begin forming the bag. Start in the middle of one of the sides where the squares are folded into. TIP: Be careful of lying the box down and lining up the paper and the box. Sticky Strip is very unforgiving!!

Now start “rolling” your box along the bottom edge of the paper.

Before you get to the very end, pull off the backing from the strip on the short side of the paper.

Step 5

Using the strip of cardstock, and your slit punch, punch out a scalloped edge. If you have the new SU! scallop border punch, or any border punch, this works great too!

Step 6

Once your scallop edge is punched out, lay a strip of sticky strip along the entire length. You are now ready to adhere the scallop to the bottom of your bag. This will be done pretty similar to way you wrapped the designer paper around the box. Start at the back of your bag, either at, or just over, the seam. Remember: Sticky Strip is very unforgiving if it sticks where you don’t want it!!

Step 7

Place two strips of sticky strip on the Round Tab punched pieces. DO NOT remove backing yet!!

I used my Crop-A-Dile to make holes, but a handheld punch works too.

You can leave the holes as is, or as I did, add eyelets for added strength. Tip: If you use eyelets, put the handles on the bag first and then set your eyelets. Makes it just a little easier. Put the handles in the middle of each of the “wider” sides.

This is what the finished Box in a Bag will look like, without any embellishments or ribbons or whatever you decide to use to decorate your bag with.

Here is the finished bag from the tutorial:

The apple bag I left the holes on the handles bare and on the Koala bag I added white eyelets. If you want to add two ribbons as I did here, use bigger eyelets or none. This was a tight fit! The scallop on the apple bag uses a Martha Stewart punch. The finished dimensions of the bag are 5 ½” H x 2 ½” W at the base. All images © Treehouse Stamps, 2008.

These bags are quick and easy to make for small thank you, birthday, thinking of you or hostess gift. They can be filled with chocolates, pens, gift cards, or small stamps and ink spots. Whoever you give one of these to will love it!!

If you decide to give this a try, link your bag back here to be entered into my Bag in a Box blog candy giveaway!!! I'm not exactly sure what I'll be giving, but there will be 2 winners, and each person will receive one of the bags I've already made filled with lots of stamping related goodies!!!
You will have until Saturday, July 12, 2008 by 12 midnight to link your bag back to me. I will choose a winner using a random number site on Sunday, July 13, 2008 and post the winners by 6pm. So get creating!! I can't wait to see what everyone comes with!

Happy Stamping!!
