GCA #101 - A Happy Birthday!!

Hello all!!!  No, it isn't my birthday, but it is someones birthday somewhere in the world!  Corny I know.  When creating new cards I tend to make alot of birthday cards.  Seems like you can never have too many of them.

So this week, the challenge is to create a birthday card.  No special requirements, BUT if you make a man/boy tween/kids birthday card, you'll get extra points!  Seems like I always am making cards for ladies and when I need one for a man or kid, I don't have them!!

My card was created with a man in mind, but after I finished it I thought it would work for a male tween too.  They are one finicky group to make cards for!!

This was actually created with scraps left on my table.  I created a One Sheet Wonder (OSW) using Sense of Time and Extreme Elements.  I used the colors of Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Very Vanilla.  I actually pulled this combo from my new color coach.  This is a great tool to have, especially with the color renovation SU! did with this catalog.  Who would of thought that Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie would go together???

So, using the scraps from the OSW and others on my table, this is what I came up with.  The sentiment is from the new Word Play set (fabulous set of sentiments) and stamped in Cherry Cobbler.  I first stamped the small dotted stamp from Extreme Elements in Pumpkin Pie, after off-stamping twice.  Just to add a little "bling" I put the new Champagne glass glitter on the star above the (i).  This panel is up with dimensionals and I used linen thread around the bottom.  I added the 1/2" library clip on here, just because!!  The Old Olive strip was distressed on the edges.

Upload your creation to either your blog or to an online gallery and post a link to your creation to this blog entry by August 21, 2010 at 12 midnight. I will choose the winner the next day. If you upload your card to SCS, PaperCraft Planet, Stampin' Addicts or Stamp TV, please put GCA101 in your keywords. That way everyone can see all of the wonderful creations at once!

Even if you can't make the drawing deadline, PLEASE feel free to participate in the challenges and upload your creations at any time. I would love to see it! And yes, my challenge is open to everyone who visits, even if you live outside the US!

Happy Stamping!!!!!

GCA #100 - Christmas in August & Blog Candy!!!!

Hello all!!!  Here we are at the 100th Getting Creative with Ann challenge!  What a fun time I've had so far, and I love all the new people I've met through my challenges and friendships that have been made!  Here's to another 100 challenges!

Now, I know, that usually it's Christmas in July, but July was a busy month for me and so we are celebrating it in August!  Don't worry, we'll still celebrate it in December too!  But, when you stop and think about it Christmas isn't that far away, 137 days to be exact!!  I always think I will have plenty of time to get my Christmas cards done and any Christmas projects I want to make, and the next thing you know - it's here!!  So, I try to work on Christmas cards and projects all year to keep ahead of the game!  And this way I get to make each Christmas card different and I don't get bored with the same design.

Anywho, onto the card!!  This card uses the new Level 2 hostess set coming out in the Holiday mini - available September 1st.  On the last day of convention Shelli gifted us with an incredible gift:  Peaceful Season hostess set, package of Deck the Halls dsp, the new Champagne Glass Glitter and a Cherry Cobbler ink pad!!!!!  Can you can WOW!!!  I was blown away with this generosity.  Now, I have to be honest, when I saw this hostess set it did not immediately appeal to me, and most likely I would not have worked to earn it.  I have plenty of Christmas sets and I can market the set for purchase easier to my customers, than hostess sets.  But, as with alot of SU! products, once you start working with them you change your mind!  At least I did!!  It really is a nice set and will make some fabulous Christmas cards for this year.

The card I am showing today is the second one I've made and was actually done with scraps left from the first one.  I'll show all three that I've made over this week.  The colors are Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla and Deck the Halls dsp.  My sentiment is stamped in Gold encore and heat embossed in gold.  I first stamped the Sanded background onto the Very Vanilla layer in Crumb Cake.

As I was embellishing this the light bulb went off as to how to use the "earth" ornament!!  Sometimes I wonder about myself!  Since I used the Peace on Earth sentiment, I "hung" the ornament from the Victoria lace trim (which is sooo yummy!!) to make it look like it was hanging.  I colored it with my Al. Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler markers.  The new stick on pearls SU! have finish off the card!

And now to the blog candy!!!  As you can see it is filled with fun stampin goodies for all kinds of projects!    Every time you link to your Christmas card, you will be entered into the drawing.  Yes, you can enter as many times as you like!  Good Luck and I can't wait to see all the fabulous Christmas cards/projects!!

Sock Monkey's Wagon Ride!!

Hello all!!!  I have been busy prepping for my upcoming Open House and an all make & take in the next few weeks.  All of this means not a lot of time for "pleasure" stamping!!  Oh, well, but I did manage to squeeze in a few cards this past week.

One of the new sets I HAD to have from the new catty was the More Monkey Accessories.  It is a set of 4; a wagon, twirly hat, tie and glasses.  The wagon is what sold me on this set.  I see so many uses for this little wagon, other than just with Sock Monkey!  Not that he isn't cute, too!!

I originally started this card as my swap for a new catty swap I'm in, but changed my mind.  Very simple to make, once I figured out what I wanted to do!!! : )

The card base Rich Razzleberry textured.  The Top Note die was framed a little differently than what I have done.  The Whisper White piece is full, while the Old Olive "frame" was trimmed around the inside edges.  I wanted it to look more like a framed picture than just putting a piece of Whisper White on top of the Old Olive.

I stamped Sock Monkey onto the Whisper White panel, but only half of him.  (Why do the whole thing when he's partially covered up, right??)  I colored him with my River Rock and Crumb Cake markers.  The wagon was first stamped on Whisper White and then stamped twice more, once on Pumpkin Pie and Soft Suede.  The entire wagon piece is popped up with dimensionals.  Even the handle, but it's hard to see in the photo.  I then stamped just his one arm on Whisper White, colored it and popped it up over the first layer.  Clear as mud, right??  Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive brads finish it off, with the sentiment.  The flag was stamped onto a scrap of Newsprint dsp and cut out.

I still feel like this needs something more, but not quite sure what.  I do think it will be a great card for a younger child, or a couple of goofy male co-workers I have!!  They would get a hoot out of it!

Happy Stamping!!!!

GCA #99 - Are U Thirsty??

Hello all!!!  Seems like all I've been doing this past week is running, running, running!!!  And not in the physical fitness way!  Spent Friday and Saturday with a group pf my best girlfirends in Portage, stamping and chatting!  This is our second Mini-Convention get together!!!  Many are not able to attend convention and this is our way of bringing convention to us!!  We do Make & Takes, share business tips and stamp!

For the GCA this week, I want you to think about drinking!  Not actually doing the drinking, but incorporating it into your creation.   Think about what you like to drink.  Water, tea, kool-aid or all those fruity and sweet party drinks.  Do you have stamps that have a drink, cup or glass with them?  Use anything that represents a drink, whether it is the actual beverage holder or use the colors/feel of the drink for your creation.

For instance, you could do something in blues and whites to represent icy mountain water or a tropical scene to show your love of the fruity drinks.  Almost anything is possible!!

I'll put more details later, but my card uses the new Morning Cup set and Blueberry Crisp dsp.

Upload your creation to either your blog or to an online gallery and post a link to your creation to this blog entry by August 7, 2010 at 12 midnight. I will choose the winner the next day. If you upload your card to SCS, PaperCraft Planet, Stampin' Addicts or Stamp TV, please put GCA99 in your keywords. That way everyone can see all of the wonderful creations at once!
